About Alisa
When Alisa Greenspan was a small child, her mother took her to the famed Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan. Alexander Calder was there, presenting some of his work and interacting with the sizable crowd that had assembled. Calder gazed down at a curly-haired, pint-sized Alisa and asked what she thought of a particular painting. “There’s something about the colors and shapes,” she replied, as candidly as if she were talking to a friend. “I’m not sure if I would have put them together.” The crowd held their breath, until Calder replied, "That's why kids are the only critics I trust, because they are honest." She didn’t know it at the time, but this meeting with Calder would foreshadow Alisa’s present-day draw towards all things creative.
Art and design always seemed part of Alisa's DNA. Her beloved father was a sculptor, inventor, and family doctor. In the early 1990’s he was part of the international metal movement in design. He was subsequently recognized as a pioneer, along with Frank Gehry and Ron Arad, for his invention, Numetal Surfaces, which transformed natural materials, like metal and stone, and fused them into a wallpaper substrate, creating texture and dimension never seen before in wallcoverings. Some of Alisa’s earliest experience in the design world came with her management of Numetal showrooms including Holly Hunt, through which Numetal graced the walls of retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue and restaurants like Nobu.
For the last 25 years she’s worked with designers and makers in the areas of fashion, interior design, tabletop and textiles, including founding her own accessory and clothing showroom specializing in emerging brands in New York City’s Flatiron district.
During the last decade, which has seen a shift in the retail landscape, Alisa has expanded her expertise to include producing curated pop-ups, thoughtful collaborations, inventive live events and creative sales opportunities in e-commerce.
Previously, Alisa worked in PR with companies including Hermes, Christofle and Remy Martin. In February of 2023 she joined April Uchitel and her team at The Board.
Alisa lives in Westchester County, New York with her husband, daughter and her dog (and forever best friend) Marlo.
